Most expensive string musical instrument
Evidently, the fiddle is the most popular stringed musical instrument. This instrument comes from Italy in the 16th century, and the oldest existing nowadays fiddle dates to 1564.
In April 2005 the ‘Lady Tennant Stradivarius’ violin was sold by New York’s Christie auction for $2.03 million US dollars.
Primarily this expensive fiddle was owned by Charles Lafont, and the name of the instrument came from Sir Charles Tennant who acquired it for his wife in 1900.
Stradivari presumably created about 1,100 violins and 650 of them are supposed to survive till our days. Violins of other Stradivari’s contemporaries, including Amati, Guarneri and Maggini also fetched high prices at auctions.
